Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: January 1, 2026 — Valid Through: December 31, 2026

1. Overview

Step Ahead is a paid membership program (“Program”) offered by Comfort Management Corporation and its affiliated retail brands, including Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, and Happy Feet Plus (collectively, “Comfort Management,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By enrolling in the Program, you (“Member,” “you,” or “your”) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”).

The Program is effective from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026 and is available exclusively to residents of, and at retail locations within, the continental United States. The Program provides eligible Members with merchandise discounts, product guarantees, and early access to select product launches, as described in these Terms. Membership benefits are subject to change as described in Section 14.

2. Eligibility

To enroll in Step Ahead, you must:

  • Be a resident of the continental United States
  • Be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
  • Provide a valid email address at the time of enrollment
  • Provide your full name for account identification
  • Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy

Step Ahead membership is individual and non-transferable. Each membership is associated with a single email address and may not be shared with or used by other individuals. Multiple family members may each purchase their own separate membership.

3. Enrollment

3.1 How to Enroll

You may enroll in Step Ahead through the following channels:

  • In Store: Visit any Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, or Happy Feet Plus retail location. A store associate will process your enrollment at the point of sale. You must provide your full name and email address at the time of enrollment.
  • Online: Purchase a Step Ahead membership through comfortoneshoes.com or any other Comfort Management e-commerce website where the Program is offered.

3.2 Enrollment Confirmation

Upon successful enrollment, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address provided during enrollment. This email will include:

  • Confirmation of your active membership status
  • Your personal discount code for use on online purchases
  • A summary of your membership benefits
  • Your membership renewal date
  • A link to your membership management portal

It is your responsibility to ensure the email address provided at enrollment is accurate and that you can receive emails at that address. Comfort Management is not responsible for missed communications due to incorrect email information, spam filters, or full inboxes.

3.3 Activation

Your Step Ahead membership becomes active immediately upon successful payment processing. There is no waiting period, additional activation step, or verification process required. All membership benefits, including the merchandise discount, are available starting with your enrollment transaction.

4. Membership Fee and Billing

4.1 Fee

The Step Ahead membership fee is $29.00 (USD) for each six (6) month membership period. This fee is non-refundable except as expressly provided in these Terms.

4.2 Payment Methods

Membership fees may be paid using any payment method accepted at the point of enrollment, including credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods available at our retail locations or online checkout.

4.3 Automatic Renewal

Your Step Ahead membership is a recurring subscription that automatically renews every six (6) months unless canceled by you prior to your renewal date. By enrolling, you authorize Comfort Management to charge the then-current membership fee to the payment method on file at each renewal.

Approximately thirty (30) days before each renewal date, we will send a reminder email to the email address associated with your membership. This reminder will include your upcoming renewal date and the fee amount.

If your payment method on file fails at the time of renewal, we may attempt to process the payment again. If payment cannot be collected, your membership may be suspended or terminated.

4.4 Price Changes

Comfort Management reserves the right to change the membership fee upon reasonable notice. Any fee change will take effect at your next renewal date. We will notify you of fee changes by email at least thirty (30) days before the new fee takes effect. If you do not agree to the new fee, you may cancel your membership before the renewal date.

5. Membership Benefits

Active Step Ahead Members receive the following benefits during their membership period:

5.1 Merchandise Discount

Members receive a ten percent (10%) discount on all regularly priced merchandise purchased at any Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, or Happy Feet Plus retail location or through any associated e-commerce website.

The following conditions and exclusions apply to the merchandise discount:

  • The discount applies only to regularly priced (full-price) merchandise. Sale items, clearance items, and merchandise already marked down are excluded from the member discount.
  • The discount applies to the pre-tax price of qualifying merchandise.
  • The discount applies on the enrollment transaction itself, effective immediately.
  • For in-store purchases, the discount is applied when the Member provides their name or email address at checkout and their active membership is verified.
  • For online purchases, the discount is applied using the personal discount code provided via email at enrollment, or automatically when the Member shops using the email address associated with their membership.
  • The discount may not be combined with other promotional offers, coupons, or discount programs unless expressly stated otherwise.
  • The discount does not apply to gift cards, membership fees, repair services, shoe care products, or other non-merchandise items as determined by Comfort Management.
  • Comfort Management reserves the right to designate certain brands, products, or categories as excluded from the membership discount. Current exclusions, if any, will be communicated at the point of sale or on the product page online.

5.2 75-Day Wear-Test Guarantee

Members may return or exchange any pair of footwear purchased during their active membership period within seventy-five (75) calendar days of the purchase date (“Wear-Test Period”), subject to the following conditions:

  • The Wear-Test Guarantee applies to footwear purchases only. Accessories, shoe care products, and non-footwear items are subject to the standard return policy.
  • Footwear may be returned for a full refund or exchanged for a different pair within the Wear-Test Period, even if the shoes have been worn.
  • Returns and exchanges under the Wear-Test Guarantee may be processed at any Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, or Happy Feet Plus retail location, or through the online return process as described on our website.
  • Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) and active membership status are required to process a Wear-Test Guarantee return or exchange.
  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method. The membership fee is non-refundable and is not included in the refund calculation.
  • Footwear that has been intentionally damaged, altered, or subjected to conditions outside of normal wear is excluded from the Wear-Test Guarantee.
  • The Wear-Test Guarantee is subject to a limit of three (3) returns per Member per membership period. Comfort Management reserves the right to review accounts that exhibit excessive or abusive return patterns.
  • The 75-day Wear-Test Guarantee replaces (and does not supplement) the standard return policy for eligible footwear purchases. For non-Member purchases, the standard return policy applies.

5.3 Early Access to Exclusive Product Launches

Members receive early access to select product launches and limited-edition releases before they are made available to the general public (“Early Access”). The following conditions apply:

  • Early Access availability, timing, and product selection are determined by Comfort Management at its sole discretion.
  • Not all product launches or releases will include an Early Access window for Members.
  • Members will be notified of Early Access opportunities via the email address associated with their membership.
  • Early Access products are subject to availability while supplies last. Membership does not guarantee the ability to purchase any specific product.
  • Early Access products are sold at regular price. The 10% membership discount applies unless the product is otherwise excluded.
  • Comfort Management reserves the right to limit quantities per Member during Early Access periods.

6. Using Your Membership

6.1 In-Store Purchases

To apply your membership benefits at any Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, or Happy Feet Plus retail location, provide your name or the email address associated with your membership to the store associate at checkout. The associate will verify your active membership status and apply your discount to all qualifying merchandise in your transaction.

6.2 Online Purchases

To apply your membership benefits to online purchases, login to your account on comfortoneshoes.com.

6.3 Cross-Brand Validity

Your Step Ahead membership is valid at all Comfort Management retail brands, including Comfort One Shoes, Saxon, and Happy Feet Plus. Benefits, including the merchandise discount, 75-Day Wear-Test Guarantee, and Early Access opportunities, apply equally across all participating brands and their associated e-commerce websites.

7. Cancellation and Refunds

7.1 How to Cancel

You may cancel the automatic renewal of your Step Ahead membership at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal, accessible via the link provided in your enrollment confirmation email or by contacting customer support. You are not required to provide a reason for cancellation.

7.2 Effect of Cancellation

If you cancel your membership:

  • Your membership benefits will remain active through the end of your current paid membership period. You will continue to receive the merchandise discount, the 75-Day Wear-Test Guarantee, and any Early Access opportunities until your membership period expires.
  • Your membership will not renew at the end of the current period, and no further charges will be made to your payment method.
  • After your membership period expires, you will no longer receive membership benefits, and your personal discount code will be deactivated.

7.3 Refund Policy

The Step Ahead membership fee is generally non-refundable. Comfort Management may, at its sole discretion, issue a full or partial refund of the membership fee in the following circumstances:

  • If you request cancellation within seven (7) days of enrollment and have not used any membership benefits (including the merchandise discount) on any transaction.
  • If a billing error results in an incorrect charge to your account.
  • If Comfort Management terminates the Program entirely (see Section 14).

Refund requests should be directed to customer support at the contact information provided in Section 15.

7.4 Re-Enrollment

If your membership has expired or been canceled, you may re-enroll in Step Ahead at any time by purchasing a new membership. Re-enrollment is subject to the then-current membership fee and these Terms. Prior membership history does not carry over to a new membership.

8. Account Management

8.1 Membership Portal

You can manage your Step Ahead membership through the Stripe Customer Portal, where you can:

  • View your current membership status and renewal date
  • Update your payment method
  • Cancel your automatic renewal
  • View your billing history

8.2 Email Address

Your email address is the primary identifier for your Step Ahead membership. If you need to update the email address associated with your membership, please contact customer support. Because your personal discount code and account status are tied to your email, it is important that your email address remains current.

8.3 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your personal discount code and membership account credentials. Comfort Management is not responsible for unauthorized use of your discount code. If you believe your discount code has been compromised, contact customer support immediately to have a new code issued.

9. Membership Restrictions

The following restrictions apply to Step Ahead memberships:

  • Membership is individual and non-transferable. You may not sell, trade, gift, or otherwise transfer your membership or discount code to another person.
  • Each individual may hold only one active Step Ahead membership at a time.
  • The membership discount is intended for personal, non-commercial use. Purchases made for the purpose of resale are prohibited.
  • Members may not use bots, scripts, or other automated methods to access Early Access products or otherwise exploit Program benefits.
  • Comfort Management reserves the right to limit, suspend, or terminate membership for any Member who engages in fraudulent activity, abuses Program benefits, or violates these Terms.

10. Taxes

The membership fee may be subject to applicable sales tax or other taxes depending on your location. Applicable taxes will be calculated and displayed at the time of enrollment. Comfort Management collects and remits taxes as required by applicable law.

The membership discount is applied to the pre-tax price of qualifying merchandise. Applicable sales taxes are calculated on the discounted price.

11. Privacy and Data

Your enrollment in Step Ahead is subject to the Comfort Management Privacy Policy, available at https://comfortoneshoes.com/pages/privacy-policy. By enrolling, you consent to the collection, use, and storage of the personal information you provide (including your name, email address, and purchase history) for the purposes of administering the Program, processing transactions, communicating membership information, and improving our products and services.

We may send you emails related to your membership, including enrollment confirmation, renewal reminders, Early Access notifications, and Program updates. These transactional and membership-related communications are necessary for the administration of the Program and are separate from marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time without affecting your membership status.

12. Intellectual Property

“Step Ahead,” the Step Ahead logo, “Always One Step Ahead,” and all related marks, logos, and designs are intellectual property of Comfort Management Corporation. Members may not use these marks without prior written permission from Comfort Management.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COMFORT MANAGEMENT, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE STEP AHEAD PROGRAM, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL.

COMFORT MANAGEMENT’S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE PROGRAM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT OF THE MEMBERSHIP FEE PAID BY YOU FOR THE THEN-CURRENT MEMBERSHIP PERIOD.

THE PROGRAM AND ALL BENEFITS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

14. Changes to the Program and Termination

14.1 Changes to Terms

Comfort Management reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify Members by email at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect. Your continued participation in the Program after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may cancel your membership before the changes take effect.

14.2 Changes to Benefits

Comfort Management reserves the right to modify, add, or remove Program benefits at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of any material changes to benefits. Changes to benefits will apply to all Members beginning on the effective date of the change.

14.3 Program Termination

Comfort Management reserves the right to terminate the Step Ahead Program at any time. If the Program is terminated:

  • Active Members will retain their benefits through the end of their current paid membership period.
  • No additional membership fees will be charged after the termination announcement.
  • Comfort Management may, at its discretion, issue prorated refunds for unused portions of membership periods.
  • Members will be notified of Program termination by email at least thirty (30) days in advance.

14.4 Membership Termination by Comfort Management

Comfort Management reserves the right to suspend or terminate any individual membership, with or without cause, if we reasonably determine that the Member has violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, abused Program benefits, or engaged in conduct that is harmful to Comfort Management, its employees, or other customers. In such cases, Comfort Management is under no obligation to issue a refund of the membership fee.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Program shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in Manassas, Virginia. You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property rights or confidential information.

17. General Provisions

17.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Comfort Management Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Comfort Management with respect to the Step Ahead Program and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether oral or written.

17.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

17.3 Waiver

The failure of Comfort Management to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

17.4 Assignment

Comfort Management may assign its rights and obligations under these Terms to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without the prior written consent of Comfort Management.

17.5 Force Majeure

Comfort Management shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, supply chain disruptions, or technology failures.
